Today was BopFest2, a bluegrass/roots music fest here in Rochester at Village Gate Square. My friend Ryan plays upright bass with "The Varnish Cooks," an "old time music" band, and below are a pic and a (very) short vid. (Sorry about the video quality.)
Check them out when you have a chance!

I'm checking them out as I write.
Love bluegrass.
Of course, I cannot watch someone on an upright bass without thinking "Smothers Brothers"!
I didn't know they had picked up a violinist! Geez... looks like it was a fun time.
Oh, I love this stuff! Got caught up with 'Oh Brother, Where Art Thou' recently and went straight off and ordered the soundtrack!
Of course, being a Brit, I have no idea if that's even truly in the same genre, but it sounds like old style bluegrass to me.
I've not been compared to Tommy Smothers before, this is a first. Though a welcome one... I loved watching those old shows!
Mr. N, thanks for dropping by to see us yesterday... hope to see you at some more shows, my friend!

See, I would have been the one naked dancing on the table supporting these guys...why do you think I never go...
"The Varnish Cooks" must have been very convincing:
that woman in white is shaking and moving as if she's having the time of her life ;-)
Ryan, I'm sure it is a first. No reflection on your playing. And it was actually Dick who played bass - glad you loved the shows, whew!
