...as it doesn't take much to make her wet. (Ugh, bad pun, I know, couldn't help it.) I mentioned to her that I will be visiting NYC shortly to see my mom and brother, and I promised her some pictures, as she is a bona fide NYC'ophile. I remembered that I had some pictures from my last trip down, so, below is a small (and I do mean small, as in 4 tables.) Turkish restaurant in Greenwich Village that I have been frequenting since I was 19. I always go there when I go home to visit. They make the best doners on the planet, imho.

Mmmmm........I can taste the lamb and pita, and all the other stuff now. Location? MacDougal and Bleecker, just up the block from The Olive Tree Cafe/Comedy Cellar.

Pssst - I don't eat meat. BUT, I'll wager they have kick ass hummus, tahini and turkish white cheese on a pita. Bring me one back!!! 4 seats, hmmm? Right up my alley. It's those precious little nooks and crannies in NY that rock my world the most. Last time I was there I took my son to a Jamaican Taqueria near W42nd. I had great beer and my son stuffed his face with tacos. Only 6 or 7 tables, as far as I could see.
I love NY. I love NY. I love NY.
And I freakin' adore you for posting this for me and thinking of me!!!! YOU ROCK.
PS - Will you laugh at me if I told you the picture made me physically ache for NY??
PS - You're right, I'm a dribbler. ;)
These shots really make me long to go back to NYC one day: I had to rush through it once on a stopover to Florida.
I realize the dollar is at an all time low versus the euro, so it must be the 10h flight that is stopping me. And additionally, a SO who prefers the comfort of an "all beach and sunshine" vacation in Spain, only a 2h flight.
I went to NYC for the first time January to meet a friend who was travelling through and totally fell in love. With the city, not the friend. Cannot wait to go back. Will come to you for the inside scoop.
Claudia - "Pssst - I don't eat meat."
Yeah...who do you think you're fooling. *wink*
"BUT, I'll wager they have kick ass hummus, tahini and turkish white cheese on a pita" Well, if you click on the pic showing the lamb on the spit, the menu is printed right below the window.
"PS - Will you laugh at me if I told you the picture made me physically ache for NY??" - BWAHAHAHA!.....yes....... ;-)
Peter - Aw c'mon Peter! Sheesh! Tell your SO to take a shitload of Valium and sleep the whole way over. ;-)
Violet - If you're timing is right, and I am there as well, I can play tour guide. I'll show you NYC the right way, the way only a native knows.
OMG! Dolma stuffed grape leaves!!!! Yatagan! Seriously, oh...man....*sighs* YUM!!!
