Re-birthday.

12 years ago today, a family made an incredibly brave decision and donated their 17 year-old's organs so that 5 other people could live. I was one of those 5 people, receiving that boy's liver. While I've never met them, I am, and will be forever grateful for their incredible generosity in a time of unimaginable grief.

Donate Life: "Don't Take You Organs To Heaven: Heaven Knows We Need Them Here."

I am so very grateful they made that decision as well.

No words really. Thanks to that family you're still with us - and I plan to donate my organs (I think it's obligatory here to save asking those awkward questions - not sure) - if anyone will have them.

If anything good can be made out of something so horrific as losing a child...you have just laid it out for all to see. Hugs to you and to the family who gave you new life.

Raising my cold glass of Diet COke in your honor. God bless that family for giving the greatest gift they will ever give.

They donated the most precious gift of all: life.

Let's hope more countries start an easy 'everyone's an organ donor' plan (unless one opts out) -
it would save so many more lives,
as it must be very hard as a grieving family to be confronted
with donation questions.

I think it is the greatest gift that anyone can bestow and I have made out donor cards for myself and both my children. I know it can give virtually no comfort to the grieving family at the time but, in the future, to know that something good came out of such a horrendous loss...

I'm still amazed that you had a transplant and you are still here to tell about it!!! You are so very fortunate. And, I AM a donor!! Woo Hoo!
